The Trail Roofing Metal Shop: Architectural Metal & Custom Flashing.

Trail Roofing Ltd

We bend our own metal. We stand behind our own work.

Flat roofs fail at the details: the edges, the joints, the places water finds first. That’s why Trail Roofing runs its own sheet-metal shop in Trail. The metal on your roof is measured for your roof, formed here, and installed by the same crew that stands behind it.

What we make

Every piece is bent to your building’s measurements, not bought in a catalogue size:

We install steel roofing panels, but we don’t build them. Panels come from the mill. The shop is for detail metal: the parts that decide whether a roof stays dry.

How a piece gets made

Someone measures the building first: the real angle of the wall, the real width of the parapet, the spot where the old metal gave up. Those numbers come back to the shop and go on the brake. The piece is bent, checked against the measurements, and loaded for the roof with the rest of the job. Nothing is ordered blind, and nothing gets cut down with a pair of snips on the roof to make it close enough. A detail that is close enough is the one you hear about in March, when the snow melts and the water goes looking for the gap. That is the whole reason the shop is there.

Why we bend it ourselves

Order roof metal from a catalogue and you get catalogue sizes. Roofs here aren’t catalogue buildings. They’re old storefronts, hillside houses, and flat commercial decks with parapets nobody measured twice. When the metal comes off our own brake, the piece fits the first time. When it doesn’t, there’s nobody to wait on. We walk back into the shop and bend it again. That’s the difference between metal that’s close and metal that’s right, and on a flat roof that difference is a leak.

Most of what we form goes straight onto flat roofs. See how the metal fits the system on our flat roofing page, or go straight to torch-on, TPO, or PVC.

Common questions

We make flashing, big fascia pieces, custom drains, vents, and chimney caps. Every piece is measured on your building and bent in the Trail Roofing shop, so it fits the roof it protects. If you need roof metal formed for a job in the West Kootenays, call us.

Usually, yes. Bring us the old piece or a photo with a measurement in it and we'll form the replacement to match. Colour is the harder part. Older stock fades, and we'll tell you straight whether a new piece will blend or stand out. Trail Roofing sorts that out before the metal goes on a West Kootenay roof.

No. We install steel roofing panels, but we don't build them. Panels come from the mill. What we form in-house is the detail metal: flashing, fascia, drains, vents, and chimney caps. On a Trail Roofing job anywhere in the West Kootenays, those parts are ours, edge to edge.
