What torch-on is
Torch-on is the flat-roof system we install most. It’s SBS modified bitumen, asphalt made flexible with rubber, that comes in rolls and goes down in two layers. A base sheet fastens to the deck. A cap sheet is torched over it, melting the two into one waterproof skin, with granules on top to take the weather. Two layers mean a flaw in one isn’t a leak in your ceiling.
The system is heavy, tough and proven. It shrugs off the freeze-thaw that pulls lighter roofs apart, and it takes foot traffic from snow shovelling without complaint. That’s why so many flat roofs around here wear it.

How we install it
Every torch-on job follows the same steps. No shortcuts.
- Tear off the old roofing and inspect the deck. Rot and soft spots get fixed before anything new goes down.
- Fasten the base sheet and build up the edges, drains and penetrations. Flat roofs fail at the details, so the details come first.
- Torch the cap sheet over the base, welding the two layers into one membrane.
- Fit the metal: flashing, edge trim and caps, bent in our own Trail shop so they fit your roof, not a catalogue.
- Final inspection and cleanup. Our five-year written workmanship warranty is stated on your estimate. You had the promise in writing before we started.
